WIPW - A Dancing Doll Needlecase

Today, Work In Progress Wednesday  is about

Conveyor Belt Needle Case
I completed it with a few stitches, a 'tongue' and a little metal mesh bead.
When I showed the work last week, a professional designer told me she saw a dancing figure in this one. I hadn't noticed but think she is right!
This is the other side.

With this project out of the way, what shall I do, start a new one? No, wait, there are some UFOs. I'll get to work on them first.

Pile 'em On
I haven't worked on this for ages so it is high time I put some more Canvas stitches into it.

Chicken Scratch

This Chicken Scratch project is something I have only been working on while travelling. However, I will probably not go on a train journey for some time, so will complete this at home.

What a great finish! I'm like you, wanting to finish a few UFO's. My problem is that there are so many new projects calling me! Glad to see you are posting regularly again. I missed you!

Beautiful work, Queenie, you are an artist!

You never seem to run out of ideas for your needle cases.
Wow!

Lots of goodies here. Those little needle cases are so cute. I have never seen ones like these before. Is the pattern your own design or is it a Swedish thing?

what a lovely needle case and yes I too see the dancing lady. Best of luck with your UFOs

Thank you, Margaret. What music is she dancing to, do you think?

The pattern is Swedish and from the craft magazine Hemslöjd. The same construction is often found in key holders.

These are so small it is easy to play around with a new pattern.

Thank you for your kind words, but no, I am NO artist!

I will be so pleased when I have finished my Pile 'em On, although I will probably continue to have a stressful life. It was started as a 'let off steam' project!

I love the look of Chicken Scratch, but sometimes got lost in the pattern. More concentration is needed than I had bargained for.

Unfortunately my eyes are not so 'young' any more and the canvas work on Pile 'em On is a bit too fine. I will be happy when it is finished, and I have learned the lesson; use proper canvas cloth for canvas work!!!

I love the needle case :-)

The Chicken Scratch needs a lot of work with a thicker thread to add interest to the rather bland pattern.

Hi Queenie, I am in love with your little needle holders and would like to use one of your photos of them on my blog. I will of course link it to your blog and attribute the work to you. Just thought I should ask permission first.

No problem. You can use the photo of the needle case on your blog.

You are so organized I bet you never have any UFOs!

This is a lovely needlecase! It will be fun to see the progress on your pile 'em on and chicken scratch again.

Your needlecase is so cute, Queenie, and Pile 'em on is looking great!
Your chicken scratch inspired me to make a little scissor holder (I like making small things) made with tiny pink check, some painted lace and embroidery. Not saying mine is chicken scratch - I'm not really sure what that is!

You can read about Chicken Scratch embroidery nere: http://www.needlenthread.com/2007/06/chicken-scratch-embroidery-on-gingham.html
I like the way the blocks or colour of the check is seen in a new light with the help of thread.

I've done some canvas work to be reported on Wednesday, and now it is time to 'scratch the chicken'!

Your Dancing Doll Needlecase turned out lovely! I look forward to seeing more progress on your other project. Chicken scratch is definitely on my list of stitches I want to try some day. I love seeing yours!
